Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 6 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for brushing
  • Optional: balsamic glaze for drizzling

Method

Instructions
  1. In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, extra-virgin olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Stir gently to mix all the ingredients. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush each slice of baguette lightly with olive oil. Place the slices on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the edges are golden and crisp. Alternatively, you can toast the bread in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown.
  3. Once the bread is toasted, rub the top of each slice with a garlic clove for extra flavor. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice of toasted bread. Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired.
  4. Serve the bruschetta immediately while the bread is still crispy. Enjoy as a starter or a light snack!

Notes

Choose ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. Toast the bread well to prevent sogginess. You can prepare the tomato mixture ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator. Add fresh herbs like oregano or parsley for a twist.
