Instructions
- Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
- Rub the olive oil evenly over all the drumsticks, then sprinkle the spice mixture generously, making sure to coat every surface. Let the seasoned chicken rest for 15-20 minutes before cooking.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and chicken broth.
- Place the seasoned drumsticks in your crockpot and pour the sauce mixture over them. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours until chicken reaches 165°F internally.
- For extra crispy skin, transfer the cooked drumsticks to a baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes until the sauce caramelizes and the skin crisps up.
Notes
Don't overcrowd the pot, consider searing drumsticks first for extra flavor, let chicken rest 5-10 minutes before serving for juicier results, and use bone-in drumsticks for better flavor and moisture retention.
