Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, extra-virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Stir gently to mix well. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush both sides of the baguette slices with olive oil and place them on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until the bread is golden and crispy. Alternatively, you can toast the bread in a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side.
- Once the bread is toasted, rub one side of each slice with a garlic clove for extra flavor. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice of toasted bread. Drizzle with a little more olive oil if desired.
- Bruschetta is best served fresh while the bread is still crispy. Arrange the slices on a platter and garnish with additional basil leaves for a beautiful presentation.
Notes
Choose ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. Toast the bread well to prevent sogginess. You can prepare the tomato mixture ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator.
